The Courtyard of Honor will be located East of the Hershey Volunteer Fire Department in downtown Hershey at the intersection of Cocoa Ave (Rt. 743) and W Caracas Ave. The Courtyard will be composed of multiple flag poles with a sitting area. There will be a veteran’s memorial with a place to pay respects for fallen, active, or retired veterans. A memorial for emergency personnel will surround a 9/11 memorial dedicated to the copilot of United Flight 175, Michael Horrocks. In addition to plaques from the Hero’s Square Plaza dedicated to locals who lost their lives. The goal is to have this project completed by September 9, 2026, in time for the 25th anniversary of 9/11; however, everyone is working diligently to have the Courtyard of Honor completed within two years, prior to the 25th anniversary of 9/11 (September 11th, 2026).

As a memorial, it serves as a visible expression of the community's enduring appreciation for their patriotic and devoted service and as a signpost for current and future generations to reflect on and recall those who have stepped forward to guard and protect the security and safety we enjoy as American citizens. The Courtyard of Honor continues the tradition of its predecessor by providing an appropriate site for the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, as well as a setting where an individual can reflect on their own just what service and sacrifice means in its ultimate form as reflected in the names and organizations immortalized by the Courtyard.
